Conductivity Variation during Irreversible Electroporation

چکیده

Irreversible electroporation (IRE) is an emerging tumour ablation technique, which utilizes non thermoelectric pulse to ablate tumours. Compared with the common treatment methods, e.g., surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, IRE has advantages of short action time, no massive bleeding tissue during ablation, avoiding heat sink effect, etc. However, process will be affected by distribution E-field tissue. The major factors affect are parameters electrical characteristics tissue, conductivity We utilized finite element analysis software COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4 calculate variation in liver IRE. In this study, there a Low-Voltage High-Frequency (LVHF) involves 3500 unipolar bipolar pulses, High-Voltage Low-Frequency (HVLF) eight pulses. results show that change HVLF higher than LVHF due strength E-field. most important conclusion can only near electrode tip. significantly between electrodes.

Finite Element Analysis of Tissue Conductivity during High-frequency and Low-voltage Irreversible Electroporation

Introduction: Irreversible electroporation (IRE) is a process in which the membrane of the cancer cells are irreversibly damaged with the use of high-intensity electric pulses, which in turn leads to cell death. The IRE is a non-thermal way to ablate the cancer cells. This process relies on the distribution of the electric field, which affects the pulse amplitude, width, and electrical conducti...

Tissue heating during tumor ablation with irreversible electroporation

Exposing biological cells to sufficiently strong external electric fields causes electroporation of cell membranes, i.e. occurrence of transient or permanent permeable pathways between the interior and exterior of the cell. Electroporation can be used to introduce various molecules into cells (reversible electroporation) or to kill cells (irreversible electroporation), which can in turn be used...

Tumor Ablation with Irreversible Electroporation

We report the first successful use of irreversible electroporation for the minimally invasive treatment of aggressive cutaneous tumors implanted in mice. Irreversible electroporation is a newly developed non-thermal tissue ablation technique in which certain short duration electrical fields are used to permanently permeabilize the cell membrane, presumably through the formation of nanoscale def...
